Sgt. Aaron Dahl

President

Sgt. Aaron Dahl is a familiar face as most people associate BANG events with Aaron. He will continue to lead the organization with the help of other highly qualified leaders in the industry.

With 14 years in law enforcement and a passion for crisis negotiation, Sgt. Aaron Dahl serves as the Team Leader of the Crisis Negotiations Team at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Tampa, Florida. Since 2016, he has held the title of Negotiator and has been involved in several significant incidents involving barricaded suspects, potential hostages, and critical incidents that require empathy, strategic decision-making, and advanced communication skills.

Sgt. Dahl is the president of the Bay Area Negotiator Group, a pivotal network connecting all crisis and hostage negotiation teams across the Tampa Bay area.

Beyond his professional commitments, Sgt. Dahl owns and operates Blue Line Studios, a commercial photography and cinematography company.

On the personal front, Sgt. Dahl is a dedicated family man, married with two children who are the center of his world. His leisure time is often spent losing golf balls on the course or losing fish in the bay, activities that allow him to unwind and relax.

Lt. Mark Dainty

Vice President

Dr. Mark Dainty is a 25-year law enforcement veteran presently serving as a Lieutenant with the Polk County (FL) Sheriff’s Office commanding the Special Victims Section. He is a graduate of the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officer’s Course and the FBI Hostage Negotiations Course. He earned his Ph.D. from Liberty University (VA) where his research focused on eliciting information from suspects during investigative interviews. He previously served as the team leader for the PCSO Crisis Negotiations Team and led his award-winning team of 20 negotiators through the successful and peaceful resolution of dozens of high-risk operations. He also holds and an MBA from the University of Florida and a BA in Forensic Psychology from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice (NY). Lt. Dainty is a Marine Corps veteran, and his law enforcement experience includes service in the United States Capitol Police (Washington, DC) and multiple municipalities in New Jersey.

Sgt. Tim Doyle

Secretary

Sergeant Tim Doyle has been a committed member of the Tampa Police Department since 2011, bringing over 17 years of law enforcement experience to his role. Prior to his time with the Tampa Police Department, he served as a deputy sheriff with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. Throughout his career, Sergeant Doyle has gained extensive experience, primarily in plain clothes assignments, where he served in various capacities within narcotics and street crimes units.

Currently, Sergeant Doyle leads the Tampa Police Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT). Tampa Police HNT was established in 1979, marking a pivotal moment in the department's evolution of crisis resolution strategies. Initially, the team consisted of only six members, including one team leader, and was incorporated into the Tactical Response Team. Over the years, the team has significantly expanded, now comprising 15 members and two additional training alternates, reflecting the increasing complexity and frequency of situations requiring skilled crisis negotiation.

Sergeant Doyle’s role as both a negotiator and team leader has placed him in critical, high-consequence environments such as hostage situations, barricaded suspects, armed suicidal subjects, and other crisis scenarios. These experiences have honed his ability to manage complex, high-risk situations where communication and de-escalation are paramount. His expertise has also deepened his understanding of the intricate dynamics between negotiators, tactical officers, and explosive ordinance technicians, especially in situations that require coordinated negotiation and tactical intervention to be resolved safely.

Sgt. Kannika Nimithkoune

Treasurer

Sergeant Kannika Nimithkoune has been serving with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office since 2005 and currently holds the position of Administrative Sergeant in the Office of the Chief Deputy. Throughout her career, she has gained diverse experience across multiple assignments, including the Detention and Corrections Bureau, Court Processing Section, Narcotics, and the Mental Health Unit. A dedicated crisis negotiator since 2009, she has served as the team’s supervisor since 2019. Sgt. Nimithkoune holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of South Florida and is fluent in Laotian. A proud Florida transplant since 1992, she enjoys spending her free time with her family and animals, indulging in all things Disney and Hello Kitty, and watching horror movies.

Lt. Ryan DeAngelo

Training Director

Lieutenant Ryan DeAngelo has dedicated his career to public safety and professional development within law enforcement. Beginning his service with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in 2011, he started as a patrol deputy and was soon selected to be a field training officer, where he played a key role in mentoring and developing new deputies. His investigative career led him to the Criminal Investigations Division, where he served as a Crimes Against Children detective, handling complex and sensitive cases. Upon promotion to Corporal, Ryan took on leadership roles in both patrol operations and special investigations, specifically within the Warrants Section. Continuing his supervisory career, Ryan was promoted to Sergeant and spent the majority of his tenure in the Training Division, where he played a critical role in enhancing the agency’s training programs.

In 2022, he was promoted to Lieutenant, where he remained in the Training Division and helped establish the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Training Academy, further solidifying his commitment to the professional growth of law enforcement officers. He currently serves as a shift commander in District 5 while also overseeing the field training program for the district.

In addition to his operational and training expertise, Ryan served on the Crisis Negotiations Team from 2016 to 2022. During his time on the team, he progressed from Negotiator to Assistant Team Leader and ultimately served as the Team Leader in his final year. His experience in crisis negotiations has made him a strong advocate for advanced training and preparedness in critical incident management. Ryan earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Florida and is currently in the process of obtaining his Master’s Degree from St. Leo University. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ryan is a devoted husband to his wife, Ashley, and a proud father of three sons. His passion for leadership, training, and crisis negotiation continues to shape his contributions to the law enforcement community.
